Lil Skies has released a new album titled Shelby. The LP is the follow-up to his major label debut Life Of A Dark Rose.

The Atlantic Records artist’s sophomore project features 14 tracks. Guests helping out Lil Skies on his latest work include Gucci Mane, Gunna and Landon Cube.

With just a day’s notice, rising Pennsylvania rapper Lil Skies decides to come through and share his new album Shelby, which is named after his mother as the artwork depicts.

The follow up to his breakout project Life Of A Dark Rose contains 14 tracks in total and features guest appearances from Gucci Mane, Landon Cube, and Gunna, the latter of which who appears on the song “Stop The Madness.” Meanwhile, production is handled by the likes of CashMoneyAP, CuBeatz, Danny Wolf, Cris Dinero, Based1, and many others.

Justin Bieber – Unreleased Album (Zip Download)

This is an album with unreleased songs, released and covers. Justin Bieber‘s upcoming fifth album has been teased online by his manager Scooter Braun, who suggests that the record will arrive this year.

The Canadian pop star’s last full-length, ‘Purpose’, was released back in 2015. Reviewing the LP – which spawned the hit singles ‘Sorry’, ‘What Do You Mean?’, and ‘Love Yourself’ – NME concluded: “It’s not quite redemption – only time will tell if he’ll curb the recklessness – but it’s certainly a start at reinvention.”

Now, Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun has hinted that the follow-up could be unveiled soon. Posting on Twitter, he said: “2019 is gonna be a wild one. I just feel it.”

Although further details on the upcoming release are not known, it was reported last year that Bieber’s new material could be inspired by his faith, after the star became heavily involved in a leading Evangelical church.

“Justin is on the lookout for songs which really reflect where he is in his life in terms of spirituality,’ a source told The Sun.

“He has always been religious but the last two years have seen him grow closer to the Hillsong Church and it has changed his entire life. He has a totally different outlook now.”

Meanwhile, Justin Bieber recently confirmed his marriage to Hailey Baldwin – following news of the pair’s engagement last summer. The singer shared an image of himself and Baldwin, along with the caption: “My wife is awesome.”

Kanye West – Yandhi Album Download

Kanye West believes he is holding onto a bit of leverage as he takes his fight with record labels to the courtroom. Yeezy has reportedly filed a third lawsuit against Def Jam and is reportedly refusing to turn over his forthcoming Yandhi album until the litigation plays out in his favor.

As previously reported, news broke on Friday (Jan. 25) that ‘Ye had filed two lawsuits against Roc-A-Fella and EMI Publishing and was seeking royalties and his masters. On Saturday (Jan. 26), The Blast reported that Kanye and his legal team had filed another suit with Def Jam and Bravado merchandising.

The new lawsuit claims the companies are taking advantage of “one of the world’s most iconic, multi-faceted, and productive talents.” He is asking that a judge order he be “free and clear of obligations” to the label.

The lawsuit alleges, “Even if the contracts were not unfair (they are), even if their terms valued Mr. West’s contributions in line with the breathtaking success he has achieved for these companies (they do not) and even if the companies had not unpaid Mr. West what they owe him (they have), he would be entitled to be set free from its bonds.”

Kanye claims he will not turn over his Yandhi album for fear that it get shelved due to the politics of the suit.

XXL has reached out to Kanye’s team for a comment.

Update:

Kanye West is denying reports of a third and singular lawsuit with Def Jam Recordings and is also calling claims that he is refusing to turn over his Yandhi album false.

In a statement to XXL, a rep for Kanye reports, “The Blast article has the unredacted complaint but it’s not a new lawsuit. It’s the unredacted version of the previous filing. Also there’s another inaccurate portion about him holding up the ninth album. That’s not in the complaint and untrue.”

Dave is about to drop his debut album.

The Streatham born 20-year-old surprised everyone with the announcement of his debut album and its first single “Black” at the end of February, and now we’re days away from its release.

Consisting of 11 tracks, Santan’s debut will feature just three artists, Burna Boy, J Hus and Ruelle. A notable name missing from the list is regular collaborator AJ Tracey (Dave also wasn’t on his recently released debut) which has led to some fans coming to the conclusion a joint mixtape could be coming from the pair later this year.

Dave came correct with conscious bars on his first single “Black” and accompanied that release with a Nathan James Tettey-directed video shot between Nigeria and London. We can no doubt more conscious Dave throughout this album and with the addition of afro-fusion artists Burna Boy and J Hus to the mix there’ll no doubt be some festival-ready summer heaters coming our way too.

Following the untimely deaths of Lil Peep and XXXTentacion, you could perhaps because forgiven for assuming that emo rap wave will fade out. Yet Juice Wrld’s colourful second studio album ‘Death Race For Love’ takes emo rap to inventive new heights, with the 20-year-old artist successfully filling the void left by the two late artists.

Since breaking through with the Sting-sampling hit single “Lucid Dreams” last year, the Chicago rapper’s angst-ridden teen anthems have resonated strongly with the public as well as peers such as Future (who released a fun collaborative mixtape, ‘Wrld on Drugs’, with him). Maren Morris – Girl Album (Zip Download)

The wait for Maren Morris’ second album is over. The country star announced Thursday (Feb. 7) that her next LP, Girl, will arrive March 8.

The album is Morris’ follow-up to her critically acclaimed and Grammy-nominated album Hero, which she released in June 2016. Morris released the album’s titular track as the lead single on Jan. 16, sharing an empowering video for the dynamic tune on Jan. 24.

Though Morris hasn’t revealed a track list for the album yet, she recently told Billboard that Girl focuses on accepting yourself, as well as your partner. “The first half of the album is very self-reflective, and it’s more about me,” she teased. “Then the second half of the record transitions into me being the counterpart to somebody else.”

Morris, who married fellow country singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd last year, made sure to incorporate her love story on Girl, especially because Hero didn’t feature any love songs. “I think that’s been a really beautiful side to being a touring musician: You never see the person, you miss them all the time, and he’s a musician as well, so we’re constantly writing with each other or about each other. A lot of these songs reflect that. [Ryan] actually wrote a couple of songs on this album with me. I feel like I’ve grown up more in the years since I released that album. And this is the timestamp of that,” she added.

The English hitmaker Dido is set to return with her first album in five years. Titled Still On My Mind, it’s due for release on March 8th through BMG.

The effort serves as Dido’s fifth overall and follow-up to Girl Who Got Away, the 2013 LP which featured producers Jeff Bhasker and Greg Kurstin. Much of Still On My Mind was written and recorded in England as “a result of the fruitful and incredibly natural production/songwriting partnership” with brother Rollo, who contributed extensively to all of her previous releases.

“It was simple, I only wanted to make another album if it was with him,” the 46-year-old Grammy-nominated singer noted in a statement. “It was made in such an easy way, all the vocals recorded on the sofa, a lot of it recorded at home.”

Ten Fé – Future Perfect Album (Zip Download)

The band have also announced their biggest-yet tour of the UK, Europe & US in Spring 2019 to promote ‘Future Perfect, Present Tense’.
The story of Ten Fé is a love story, of sorts. For the songwriters at the centre of it – Ben Moorhouse and Leo Duncan – the band is the eventual realisation of two respective careers spent navigating the bumpy terrain of the music industry. Both have been in bands before, some successful, some less so, until in each-other they finally found a musical partnership built on a deeper understanding.
Leo Duncan is from the Black country – the ‘armpit of England’, he jokes – raised in an Irish household, steeped in a tradition of folk singing. Ben Moorhouse is from East London and found his musical feet at school – picking up a guitar, and moving through Britpop into psychedelia and then jazz as he progressed through his teenage years and onto a Royal Academy music degree. They met around the time Ben was enjoying success playing bass in indie outfit Golden Silvers and the pair began working together on the side-lines. Between busking on the London underground, they wrote songs in each-other’s bedrooms, and eventually in 2015 started releasing music in their own right. Ten Fé was formed. Their debut album Hit the Light arrived in early-2017 and received widespread acclaim, with comparisons to Britain’s Madchester scene of the late 80s and early 90s and Springsteen-esque Americana. It struck a chord, enjoying in excess of 30 million streams on Spotify and inspiring sold out shows in the UK, America, and Europe.
They felt a renewed sense of confidence when it came to writing the ever-daunting follow up. They set up shop in a vacant driving licence office in Walthamstow where the majority of the writing has been done. As they neared the end of the process, they took their collection of songs and the rest of the expanded Ten Fé band – Rob Shipley, Johnny Drain and Alex Hammond – to Oslo where they tracked the record before returning to London to finish it off with producer Luke Smith (Foals, Depeche Mode, Petite Noir, Anna of the North) and have it mixed by Craig Silvey (Arcade Fire, Florence & The Machine, Amen Dunes).
Finding a sweet spot somewhere between the woozy drawl of War on Drugs and the taut melodrama of Fleetwood Mac, they focused their sound into something distinctively Ten Fé.
All attention is now focused on the resultant record – ‘Future Perfect, Present Tense’ – which is due for release on 8 March 2019 via Some Kinda Love/PIAS. It is a poignant, uplifting meditation on everything that’s brought them to this point, and all they’ve left behind in getting there. Already introduced by first single ‘Not Tonight, and now brand-new offering ‘Won’t Happen’; an early standout which bounces with a lithe groove while Leo Duncan, on vocals, laments and repents for his past indiscretions.
What ‘Future Perfect, Present Tense’ adds up to is a record about time – the time it takes, the time you’ll never get back, and the times still to come – from a band with a deep appreciation of taking the rough with the smooth. The journey to its completion has been about stripping away the distractions and being truthful to themselves.
After everything, Ben and Leo brought it back to a simple connection that is unique to the two of them. Translated into English, Ten Fé is the Spanish for “have faith”. New album title “Future Perfect, Present Tense” conveys further their commitment to the cause and a reminder of their unwavering optimism. Both of these mottos are apt for the pair of songwriters – a band who’ve learnt to trust each-other, and know the rest will follow.

Dave – Psychodrama Album Download

Dave Psychodrama – By definition, ‘psychodrama’ is the act of retelling events from your past. So to that end, we can expect an insight into SantanDave’s life so far with his debut album.

The tracklist has a concise feel to it, with just 11 tracks and three features, from Burna Boy, Ruelle and ‘Samantha’ co-collaborator, J Hus. Interestingly, Dave opted against including ‘Funky Friday’ as part of Psychodrama, despite it being his biggest track to date and commercially, one of the biggest tracks within the black British music scene in the past few years. Leaving out a certified chart-topper like that is a risk, but it speaks volumes of Dave’s confidence to produce even more hits.

Dave released two singles from Psychodrama before its March 8 release date, ‘Black’, and more recently, ‘Streatham’. The former track sees Dave discusses what it means to be a black person in today’s society while the latter is jam-packed with over-your-head bars about his hometown.

For example, there’s a line from ‘Streatham’ which reads ‘a young g done draws and eights/ now he’s cutting through bricks like the 118’. The 118 is a bus which runs from Streatham to Brixton, as displayed in the video. Everything about that bar oozes elite lyricism and that’s what you can expect throughout from Dave Psychodrama album.

While “Spy Kid” is certainly making the rounds, the full version is unlocked as of Midnight. The tracklist I’ve listed below is yet another indication of what’s in store.

Zacari – Run Wild Run Free Album (Zip Download)

Zacari, the newest member of the Top Dawg Entertainment roster, will make his official debut on the label this month. Zacari has announced an EP titled Run Wild Run Free as his first project for TDE.

The new EP is scheduled to drop on March 15. TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith unveiled the release date via Twitter.

Zacari officially signed with TDE in January. Prior to 2019, he contributed to multiple projects released by the label.

The Los Angeles-based artist famously appeared on Kendrick Lamar’s single “LOVE.” from the acclaimed album DAMN. Zacari was also featured on Ab-Soul’s Do What Thou Wilt, Isaiah Rashad’s The Sun’s Tirade and the TDE-helmed Black Panther: The Album.

The rise of Lil GotIt continues. Today (March 13), the Atlanta rapper pulls up with his Crazy But it’s True project, and XXL’s got the exclusive premiere.
The project, which features production from Pyrex, Wheezy, 10Fifty and guest appearances from the likes of Lil Durk, Gunna, Hoodrich Pablo Juan, Lil Keed, Yung Mal, Money Man and more, is a follow up to 2018’s Hood Baby, which is GotIt’s debut effort on Alamo Records. The title, Crazy But it’s True, comes from GotIt’s real-life experiences.
“My life be so crazy that everything is true and real,” the rapper tells XXL. “It was important to drop now because nobody has heard the new me. My last tape was full of the old me, this tape is the new Lil GotIt.”
GotIt shows his evolution on Crazy But it’s True, but he also provides for listeners that have been with him since he dropped his debut mixtape, Super Squid, in 2017. His life has naturally changed dramatically since that release, and he used it as inspiration for the new project.
“I was inspired by my own life. I went from rags to riches and lost many people to get here. It’s crazy, but it’s true!” GotIt says of his inspiration for the project. Still, he knows there’s much more work to do. “Getting to the Billboard charts and BET Awards and those million dollar checks are my goals for 2019,” he says when asked about his plans going forward. “I’ma work hard for it, no cap.”
